Dental Crowns and Bridges

If you have a tooth that is missing, compromised by decay, fractures, or breakdown of a large old filling, our dentists may recommend a tooth crown for you. A dental crown can cover and protect a vulnerable tooth without compromising the integrity of its root, while a bridge fills the gap in your smile with a prosthetic tooth.

Stability for Your Tooth

Our dentists may recommend a crown to rebuild and stabilise your tooth in these situations:

  • For a tooth that's been compromised by a sizeable broken-down filling
  • To strengthen a tooth that's had root canal treatment
  • For a severely broken, fractured, or decayed tooth
  • As a single-tooth replacement for a dental implant
  • To cover a misshapen or discoloured tooth

A dental crown fits over the remainder of your tooth and restores it with a porcelain replica that mimics your natural tooth's function and aesthetics. It covers your tooth to the gumline, so you can easily eat, chew, brush, and floss. Our dentists customise your porcelain crown to blend flawlessly with your smile.

Solutions for Your Smile

Missing one or more teeth can make eating and enjoying your food challenging. A dental bridge fills in the gaps with one or more adjacent missing teeth by anchoring dental crowns on either side to healthy teeth. The crowns then support a prosthetic tooth or teeth in between.

Dental bridges are also made of ceramic porcelain designed to complement your smile.

Getting a Crown or Dental Bridge in East Keilor

Whether you are getting a dental crown or bridge, the process is straightforward and the same. It will require two appointments with your dentist and around two to three weeks to complete.

During your first visit, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth for the dental lab making your crown or bridge, and they'll prepare your smile for restoration. We'll also make you a temporary version of your crown or bridge to wear while you wait for the dental lab to make your final restoration.

It may take two to three weeks for the dental lab to complete your crown or bridge, and then you'll return to East Keilor Dental to have your dentist permanently place it. They'll make any needed adjustments to your bite so you can go and enjoy eating and chewing with your new tooth immediately.
