Teeth Cleans and Exams
Oral health is essential to your overall health and well-being, as your mouth is the gateway to your body.
Keeping your teeth clean and plaque-free at home is integral to maintaining dental health.
Routine visits with your East Keilor dentist for teeth cleans and examinations are another way to protect your health and maintain your beautiful smile.
During Your Dental Examination
At East Keilor Dental, our dentists are comprehensive with routine exams, checking for early signs of tooth decay, damage, or deterioration. They also examine your current restorations, like dental fillings or crowns, to ensure that no wear or breakdown could be problematic.
Your dentist will also screen you for concerns like gum disease and oral cancer. The earlier we spot these problems, the easier they are to manage, and the better your chances are of treating them successfully.
Oral cancer is tricky to diagnose on your own because it doesn’t typically cause much discomfort initially. It can also look much like a common cold sore or lesion. If you notice changes in your gums, soft tissues, or lesions that aren’t healing within 14 days, we encourage you to contact your dentist for an exam. The earlier we can detect and start treating oral cancer, the better your prognosis.
During Your Teeth Clean
When it’s time for your teeth clean and polish, we’ll remove the plaque buildup from your teeth that contributes to problems like gum disease, tooth decay, and cavities. We’ll also show you the best techniques you can use at home when brushing and flossing to remove plaque from your teeth effectively.
We’ll also be happy to discuss products you can use at home, like electric toothbrushes or an antibacterial mouth rinse that can help you improve your home care routine.
Personalising Your Dental Care
Every patient has unique needs when it comes to their oral health. At East Keilor Dental, our dentists personalise your teeth clean and checkup schedule to precisely what you need to maintain optimal dental health. This may mean three to four visits yearly for some patients and twice a year for others.
We’ll also discuss other factors that contribute to your oral health with you, like nutrition and diet and medications you may be taking. Our dentists spend a lot of time educating patients about their dental health and how to protect it so they can achieve the best outcomes.
