Dental Veneers
Your smile is one of your greatest assets that can impact your interactions with others. If you're unsatisfied with its appearance, your East Keilor cosmetic dentist has solutions for you.
Porcelain veneers are an ideal treatment for a wide range of dental problems, such as:
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Tooth size discrepancies
- Stained or discoloured teeth
- Oddly shaped teeth
- Excessively worn teeth
- Gaps or spaces between teeth
Our dentists can use veneers to cover, repair, and enhance one tooth or a few veneers can enhance and redesign your smile. We can also combine porcelain veneers and dental crowns to repair compromised teeth in a more extensive complete mouth reconstruction plan.
What Is a Dental Veneer?
Veneers are essentially thin layers of customized porcelain that adhere to the front surface of your tooth. Our dentists bond veneers directly to your tooth, so it's a strong and permanent addition to your smile.
If you've ever considered changing the appearance of your smile, tooth veneers may be the right choice. Our dentists can discuss your options during an evaluation, including a dental exam.
The Process for Completing Dental Veneers
Once you've decided to move forward with veneers for your smile, it will require two appointments at our East Keilor dental clinic and two to three weeks to complete.
During your first visit, your dentist will prepare your tooth or teeth for new restorations. Dental veneers require us to remove a tiny amount of tooth enamel to ensure a snug and seamless fit. We'll take impressions of your teeth and create temporary veneers you will wear while a trusted dental laboratory makes your final restorations.
The lab typically takes two to three weeks to complete your final restorations. When they're ready, you'll return to East Keilor Dental to have your dentist permanently place your veneers. They'll adjust your new restorations to ensure that your bite functions properly, and then you're ready to go and enjoy your new smile.
Caring for Porcelain Veneers in East Keilor
Tooth veneers are easy to care for since you can brush and floss as you were used to without changes to your home care routine. You will want to avoid whitening toothpaste as it can be abrasive for your veneers.
As you would with your natural teeth, it's important to avoid biting directly into hard foods, which could fracture natural teeth and damage veneers. Instead, cut these foods into bite-sized pieces.
Regular exams with your dentist every few months at your preventive visits will also protect the health of your veneers, and most people can enjoy them for 10 to 15 years.
Your Smile Possibilities Are Endless
You can learn more about your options for repairing broken or compromised teeth with porcelain veneers or other dental treatments by booking an evaluation with one of our dentists.
